The 31st October 2012, saw the first of many intimate open days for businesses to visit Sony UK Technology Centre (UKTec) and see for themselves the latest developments and the expansion of their sub-contract electronic manufacturing division.
Based in South Wales, Sony UK Technology Centre has a vast amount of experience in electronic manufacturing and has developed the expertise in delivering a highly sophisticated electronic manufacturing service for a range of industries including the medical sector. The open day was an opportunity for businesses within the medical sector to tour the facilities and see electronic manufacturing at its best, exploring the benefits or working with a world-class manufacturing partner such as Sony.
Guest speaker Kevin Smith, Director of the CyDen Institute of Light Therapy, an existing partner with Sony delivered a fantastic insight into what it is like working with Sony. Gareth Jones, Head of New Business Development at Sony UKTec commented; “Open days are a fantastic opportunity for people to get an insight into what we do here at Sony UKTec and for us to keep up-to-date with what is important to customers. In a tough economic climate and a cost competitive environment, working with customers to improve efficiencies without comprising on quality is vital to the success of what we do here.”
Since expanding into contract manufacturing Sony UK Technology Centre has attracted several customers including the famous Raspberry Pi, a credit-card sized mini computer designed to stimulate young people’s interest in computer programming and electronics.
