Steve Dalton OBE, Honorary Fellowship

17th Dec 2012

Steve Dalton OBE, Managing Director of UK Tec, has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship from the University of Glamorgan in recognition of his significant contribution to the manufacturing industry. The Chancellor of the University of Glamorgan, the Rt. Hon. Lord Morris of Aberavon KG QC, presented the Fellowship to Steve in September at St. David’s Hall in Cardiff. Julie Lydon, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Glamorgan, said: “Glamorgan’s engagement with organisations like Sony is key to its success in producing graduates who possess the skills needed to enter the workplace. Steve is a great inspiration and role model to our students, and we are proud to have presented him with this honorary award.” Receiving his award, Steve commented: “It’s a great privilege and honour to be given a Fellowship in recognition of my services to the manufacturing industry. Engineering has always been a discipline that has fascinated me, and it has helped me in my career. By learning how to simplify business processes, manufacturing techniques and organisational management into small manageable pieces, I have been able to improve the site’s sustainability and longevity. I believe the key to success is to be able not only to understand a process, but also to understand the inputs that are required to make that process succeed.” He added: “As an individual I always look at how to improve my knowledge and develop my skill base. Throughout my career I’ve had to train myself to analyse complex business situations and find alternative business opportunities, while using my team in Pencoed – who are my greatest asset – to deliver world-class results.”
