The first Raspberry Pi ‘Picademy’ in Wales was held at Sony UK Technology Centre on 19th-20th November 2014.
The Raspberry Picademy is a free professional development experience for primary and secondary teachers, initially for those in the UK.
Twenty-four teachers from Wales took part in the ‘training course’ where a team from the Raspberry Pi Foundation demonstrated how to use the Raspberry Pi’s in a classroom environment.
Attendees received a tour of Sony UK Technology Centre’s state-of-the-art facility where the Raspberry Pi’s are made.
They also took part in hands-on Raspberry Pi workshops and the Foundation’s Education team helped teachers in Wales to discover practical ways in which the Raspberry Pi can support and further enhance their teaching of the new curriculum.
Steve Dalton OBE, Managing Director of Sony UK Technology Centre said: “We’re excited to host the first Raspberry Picademy in Wales and to welcome Pi Enthusiasts to the place where the Pi’s are made.
“We hope the attendees had a great two days in Wales and that the training days have shown them useful tips on how to use the mini-computer in a classroom environment.”
