As one of the sponsors of the event, a team from Sony UK Technology Centre attended the entrepreneurship and innovation convention Venturefest Wales on Tuesday 29th September 2015 at the SWALEC stadium in Cardiff.
Venturefest is a UK-wide network of events held with the aim of bringing together entrepreneurs, innovators, and investors in order to aid local growth and local business communities. Venturefest Wales is just one of many events held around the country, and this year featured speakers from Welsh government, Microsoft, and Cardiff University among many others, as well as workshops and panels offering advice for local entrepreneurs and small business owners.
This year, Sony UK Tec was pleased to be the sponsor of Venturefest Wales’ brand-new Start-Up Village, showcasing new ideas and innovations from companies and projects that have only recently been developed. The twenty start-up companies featured included project consultancy, online web management, multilingual communication apps and many more.
As part of the event we also represented our own involvement with other businesses though some case studies of our Contract Manufacturing Solutions. One example of this is the famous Raspberry Pi credit card-size computer, which recently hit 5 million units manufactured at Sony UK Tec. Our Business Incubation Centre which is now the home of 32 local start-up and growing businesses was also a point of interest for many of the exhibiting and visiting entrepreneurs.
The team from Sony spent the earlier part of the day manning the exhibition stand, showcasing the products manufactured, and engaging with representatives from local businesses, start-ups, and universities. Members of the team from Sony UK Tec were keen to emphasise in particular our capability to manufacture medical products, which attracted the interest of several entrepreneurs from the local area.
We at Sony UK Tec were pleased to be a part of Venturefest this year. It was a wonderful day and we hope everyone who attended left the event feeling motivated and inspired.
