Apprenticeship Programme: Software & Electronic Apprenticeship (Year 1)
What is your education / work background?
During my studies in Poland and following completing my English A Level (Matura Exams), I began studying Applied Computer Science at Lodz University. After a short time at University, I made the decision to move to Wales where I applied for a place on the Sony Apprenticeship Programme.
How did you find the process of applying for your Apprenticeship?
The application process was straightforward and very easy to understand – even in light of the COVID-19 restrictions.
How did you feel when you found out you had gained a place on the programme?
I was so excited to find out that I had secured a place on the programme. It has always been my dream to become an Engineer and this programme provides me with the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge to make my dream come true.
What is a typical day like on the programme?
Since working on the programme, so far, I can say that each day I have learnt something new. Everyone on the team is incredibly supportive and help is always at hand for course work, as well as when working onsite.
What have you gained from the programme?
Thanks to the Apprenticeship Programme, I have met a lot of great people both in the Company factory and in college, but most importantly I have been able to progress my career and take the steps needed to become a successful Engineer in the near future.
What advice would you give to someone who is thinking of applying for the programme?
If you’re thinking of applying for the Apprenticeship Programme within Sony, I would say that as long as you’re committed to hard work, then absolutely go for it. Prepare yourself for the interview by doing your research on the company and have any questions regarding the programme on hand. Sony is a great place to work! Not only will you get to be part of such a recognised company, but you’ll also have the opportunity to travel – some apprentices have even had the chance to visit Japan!
