As part of our corporate social responsibility policy, Sony UK Technology Centre, Pencoed selects one organisation as our annual adopted charity that our main funding efforts are geared towards.
Our current Adopted Charity is
We have been supporting the children’s ward of the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend for the past five years, and thanks to a raft of fundraising events the charitable team has raised over £100,000 for the worthwhile cause so far. Fundraising initiatives have included a gruelling 300-mile round coast-to-coast cycle over a three-day period in August 2018, raised roughly £6,000 for the Children’s Ward.
Alongside the cycle challenge, Sony UK TEC also raised funds for the Children’s Ward this financial year through it's 11th annual Charity Golf Day, which took place at the Celtic Manor. The event saw 24 teams of suppliers take on the the 2010 Ryder Cup Course, tee’ing off on all holes simultaneously in what’s known as a ‘shotgun start’. Thanks to the success of the tournament Sony UK TEC raised just over £28,500 for the Princess of Wales Hospital, in order to support the refurbishment of the Paediatric Assessment Unit.
The Children's Ward, Princess of Wales Hospital has been Sony UK TEC's adopted charity since Financial Year 2013, and in that time we have been able to make some well-needed donations and renovations to the facility.
