Role Overview:

Are you an experienced technician looking to advance your career in Surface Mount Technology (SMT) production? We’re looking for a dedicated and technically skilled Technician to support our production engineering team in maintenance, troubleshooting, and quality assurance.

As an SMT Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and optimising surface mount machinery. Working within a close-knit technical team, you will be responsible for machine repairs, performance monitoring, and process improvements to ensure seamless production.

This role is part of the Surface Mount Production department, participating in a small technical team providing maintenance and breakdown cover of surface mount machinery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and repair SMT machinery, ensuring minimal downtime.
• Implement and sustain Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities to enhance machine reliability.
• Analyse product quality issues and contribute to process optimisation.
• Track machine performance and assist in improving efficiency.
• Identify technical issues and implement effective solutions.
• Write reports and communicate findings to engineering teams.

• Basic machine shop hand tools
• Soldering tools
• Test & measurement equipment
• Software Tools

Person Specification:

Essential

• Qualified to ONC/HNC engineering discipline.
• Understanding of circuit board assembly machines
• Understanding of electrical circuit diagrams
• A sound mechanical competency is required
• Able to communicate at all levels, write technical reports.

Desirable

• The personal skills to work within a demanding production / target driven environment.
• Good Aptitude for complex and technical operations.
• Ability to work as part of a team and under own initiative.
