Sony UK TEC Overview:

Sony UK Technology Centre is a division of Sony Europe Limited. We are the only manufacturing centre for Sony in Europe and provide contracting manufacturing solutions for other business. Further, we are the home of a Sony customer service centre, a Business Incubation Centre and much more. The heart of today’s operation at Pencoed is centred on the manufacture of high technology Broadcast and Professional Cameras and Systems for worldwide markets including the latest industry leading 4K technology. Cameras and equipment produced in Pencoed can be found in sports stadiums, studios and outside broadcast units around the world.


Role Overview:

Candidates with various levels of experience are invited to apply for a position within a multi-disciplinary manufacturing facility, focusing on manufacturing IT System Development, Data Management and Data Analysis. You will be working on cutting edge technologies, within a team of highly experienced Engineers. Suitable applicants will demonstrate innovation and have a genuine passion for new technologies. Acting as the Assistant or Software Engineer you will have excellent opportunity to further your technical and professional ability, so a desire for learning and development would be considered favourably.


Specific Responsibilities

  • Maintenance and integration of existing IT system
  • Contributing to the development of the IT strategy for the long term
  • Working closely with manufacturing departments to identify opportunities
  • Create, test and optimize software for the collection, analysis and communication of data


Person Specification


  • Able to work as part of a dedicated team with strong communication skills


  • Able to work under pressure and deliver results within deadlines
  • Strong sense of responsibility
  • A willingness to develop own knowledge independently
  • A creative and flexible approach to problem solving
  • Able to work autonomously where required


  • Experience working in an Agile Software development environment
  • Ability to support operations flexibly where required
  • Exposure and knowledge in any of the below topics:
  • SQL / NoSQL Databases
  • Linux
  • C, C++, LUA, JavaScript, PHP
  • Web Design
  • OPC-UA
  • GIT, SVN or similar
  • Small Board Computers (e.g. Arduino, Raspberry PI)
