Sony UK Technology Centre is a division of Sony Europe Limited. We are the only manufacturing centre for Sony in Europe and have over 500 highly skilled team players who help create some of the most advanced technology on the global market. The heart of today’s operation at Pencoed is centered on the manufacture of high technology Broadcast and Professional Cameras and Systems including the latest industry leading 4K technology. Alongside this we provide contract manufacturing solutions for multiple non-Sony branded businesses. What you will be doing:
The role of Purchasing Officer will work within our ever-growing Supply Chain, and will be responsible for material control across our multi-disciplinary Manufacturing site. You will need to have strong communication skills ensuring the best customer service is upheld when managing our suppliers day-to-day. In this role, you will be required to work under pressure using your initiative to analyse and resolve complex supply problems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Day to Day Vendor Management & Supplier Relationship Management
- Running MRP for responsible vendors
- Managing activities such as placing and rescheduling parts and cancellations of orders
- Collate purchase orders & purchase requisitions to fulfil demand.
- Track the status of responsible orders
- Review deliveries against the orders, including ‘on time in full’ reporting
- Review component Obsolete & Excess values & Qtys
- Support internal stakeholders such as finance, Incoming Quality & Production
- Ensure a strong standard of organisation is upheld with PO’s/ acknowledgements
- Process Improvements (PI) activities, such as automation and process reviews
- Negotiating with suppliers on Lead Time Improvements & Cost Reductions

- Understanding of Oracle ERP System
- Experience of Expediting or Buying roles
